Who We Are
At the Redeemers Food Bank, we are committed to upholding the principles of dignity, respect, and inclusivity
We are dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty by providing essential food assistance to individuals and families in need. Our mission is to ensure that no one in our community goes to bed hungry, and we strive to positively impact the lives of those facing food insecurity.
According to recent data, approximately 1 in 10 households in Alberta experience food insecurity. This means thousands of individuals and families struggle to regularly access nutritious and sufficient food. Shockingly, child hunger is a significant issue in our province. Statistics reveal that 1 in 6 children in Alberta lives in households facing challenges in accessing enough food for an active and healthy lifestyle.
Poverty rates in Alberta have remained persistently high. Around 1 in 9 individuals live below the poverty line, struggling to meet their basic needs, including food.
Indigenous communities in Alberta face disproportionately higher rates of food insecurity and poverty. Addressing these disparities is crucial to promoting equality and justice within our province.

Our mission
At the Redeemers Food Bank, our mission is to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in our community. We firmly believe that no one should go to bed hungry, and we strive to positively impact the lives of individuals and families facing food scarcity.
Our primary objective is to collect, distribute, and provide nutritious food to needy people. We understand the importance of healthy meals in promoting physical and mental well-being, and we are committed to ensuring that every person has access to an adequate and balanced diet.
In addition to meeting immediate food needs, we are dedicated to empowering individuals and families to break the cycle of hunger. We offer educational programs and resources that promote nutrition, budgeting, and cooking skills. Through these initiatives, we aim to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools to make informed choices about their food intake, thus fostering self-sufficiency and long-term wellness.
Another crucial aspect of our mission is fostering community engagement and empathy. We believe that addressing hunger requires collective efforts and a compassionate society. We actively seek partnerships with volunteers, community organizations, and local institutions to expand our reach and maximize our impact. By engaging with the community, we raise awareness about food insecurity issues and inspire individuals to take action, whether through donations, volunteering, or advocating for policy changes.
At the Redeemers Food Bank, we are committed to upholding the principles of dignity, respect, and inclusivity. We recognize the diversity of our community and strive to ensure that our services are accessible and equitable to all individuals, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or socio-economic status.

Furthermore, we adhere to ethical and responsible operations, finances, and resource management practices.
Our mission is fueled by the belief that we can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals and families struggling with food insecurity. We envision a future where everyone has access to nutritious food, where hunger is eradicated, and where every member of our community thrives.
